Critiques:
Critique 1
0:25:40 – Critique number 1 is for John Johnson, https://www.healthyhappylonglife.com/. John is a massage therapist who sells tools related to the niche.
Homepage:
- Any links that take a customer away from the money pages should be removed.
- Remove sign in options if no one is creating accounts.
- Search bar needs to be enlarged, it should be very prominent because people who search are much more valuable.
- Too much white space between all the elements.
- Add text under the hamburger icon. Some users do not know what the icon means.
- Too many links in the header. Move all links that aren’t money pages, to the footer.
- Need to add the Footer Hack and remove the newsletter subscription because no one wants to sign up to newsletters.
Product Page:
- When adding products to cart there is no indication that you have added to cart apart from a little number change in the top right. Typically it would open a drawer cart or take you to a cart page.
- CTA colors blend in with the other colors on the page. Hierarchy of focus needs to be on the cart button.
- Social media icons need to be removed, this causes distraction and customers can leave your page when clicking those links
- Add the ‘+’ and ‘-’ icons next to the quantity selector, this is a best practice.
Cart:
- Cart automatically updates subtotal, but on the cart it says you need to do it manually. This is a disconnect for customers
- Remove all third party payment options from the Cart and put them on the Payment page of the Checkout.
Critique 2
0:59:50 – Critique number 2 is for Jean Junior. He runs a vegan POD and jewellery store.
Homepage:
- Footer hack has not been implemented
- About Us page has does not have much personality to it. Add some images and bring some realness to it. Move About Us page to the footer.
Matt & Tanner go in depth on how Jean can build a recurring continuity program, including price points, digital products, physical products.
Critique 3
1:28:00 – Critique number 3 is for Selena McIntyre, https://stylishonesies.com. Custom Onesies for babies.
Product Page:
- Move size guide to be under Size option
- Color option should be color swatches instead of dropdown menus
- Microcopy to be ‘Choose Your Size’ instead of ‘Size’
- Put shipping and returns behind tabs instead of in the main description
