In this session we did 3 critiques. Claus Lauter – Gun Holsters. Carrie Newman – Firearm Cleaning Solutions. Svetlana Zhitnitsky – Kitchen Gadgets & Accessories.

Additional Topics Covered: Removing Popup Notifications, Clarity Trumps Persuasion

    Critiques:

    Critique 1

0:28:20 – Critique number 1 is for Claus Lauter, https://opovoo.com. Gun holsters, EDC & CCW Essentials.

Team list off a few quick fixes for the homepage. Remove push notification pop up on site. Use Wheelio on exit-intent and email/sms instead of interrupting. Change the search icon to ‘search’ text instead. Change the search field micro-copy to your most searched items.

Product Page: Do not use your CTA color anywhere else on your store, this color needs to be unique and congruent for your CTA’s (ATC, Proceed to Checkout).

Funnel: Very outdated look. Ensure your design is congruent with your store. Tanner has a lot of experience with funnels, so he lays out many principles that Claus can apply. Including layout and copywriting. Team show an example of some Value Propositions from a partnered store.

    Critique 2

1:12:40 – Critique number 2 is for Carrie Newman, https://cerusgear.com/. Firearm Cleaning Solutions and Mats.

Creating better mockups for their products will eliminate objections customers may have with sizing.

Homepage: Replace search icon with text, ‘Search’. Color of the price is not standing out, you should make this as clear as possible. Using colors that make the price hard to read creates friction. We never advise using red for your prices, but this indicates error and we have steered clear from using it.

Product Page: Using a video of you interacting with your products, whether it’s instructional, or showing the benefits. Data proves that people who watch these videos convert higher.

Cart: Removing any colors or features that distract your customer from taking the next step. Your CTA needs to be the most prominent feature on the cart.

    Critique 3

1:57:15 – Critique number 3 is for Svetlana Zhitnitsky, https://trivae.com/. Kitchen Gadgets & Accessories.

Funnel: Repositioning the main video to be above some of the text to give it context. This will break up the wall of text and allow your customers to understand the product before reading the rest. Changing the verbiage on the shipping offer. If the offer isn’t clear your it will create friction and lack of trust.

    Noteworthy Topics:

0:13:50 –  Doers vs. Dabblers: Team break down what this means and suggests watching a video on this subject.

0:34:45 – Removing Popup Notifications: Matt shares a story about the success a member had after removing popup notifications from his store.

2:26:40 – Clarity Trumps Persuasion: If you can make your offer very clear it will out-perform someone who is trying to be tricky
