Summary of Jam Session:
In this session we did 3 critiques. Zane Gilbert, Wine Accessories. Sebastian Linke, Triathlon & Compression Gear. Jonathan Loynaz, Jewelry Store.
Critiques:
Critique 1
0:00:00 – Critique number 1 is for Zane Gilbert – https://yourdailyglass.com/. Wine Accessories.
Homepage: On the first impression of the homepage, it is not super clear that you sell wine racks which is the biggest seller. You need to make it very easy for your visitors to know what you are trying to sell. Matt explains the intended process of the homepage and explains how it should be laid out. Review stars are not inline. Utilize the positives of having over 1900 reviews by creating UVP’s.
Collection Page: If you are using an emblem or badges on product images, make sure there is text that goes alongside the badge. If the badge is too hard to read the text will immediately clear up any confusion. Remove the random filters. Add a specific filter app, Product Filter & Search app is our recommendation.
Product Page: Ensure each product thumbnail provides value and isn’t too similar to a previous image. Test putting a high quality product review above the product title, you can achieve this by HTML & CSS. Avoid using red buttons as it signifies to many users as an error.
Cart Page: The team recommends a slide cart as opposed to a cart page.
Checkout: Use the correct microtext within the checkout fields. Add the breadcrumbs.
Critique 2
0:41:35 – Critique number 2 is for Sebastian Linke – https://sls3.com/. Triathlon & Compression Gear.
Homepage: Make the search bar more prominent and label the cart icon.
Collection Page: Add relevant filters to your collection pages so visitors can refine their search.
Product Page: The UVP’s are very difficult to read. Remove the credit card payment icons as visitors are not ready to buy yet. Consider replacing the current icons with your strongest UVP’s. Test changing the add to cart button color. Add review stars next to the review at the top of the page so right away it appears as a review. Break up the walls of text on the product pages. Remove social icons from your product pages. There is a little too much padding between different elements on the product page. Make all the product images the same size so your page isn’t jumping around.
Cart Page: Remove the order notes section on the cart page. Cart page should automatically update. Change the UVP’s and replace with Paypal Accepted icon. Matt recommends adding a buy now pay later app such as Sezzle or Afterpay.
Critique 3
1:09:30 – Critique number 3 is for Jonathan Loynaz – https://sifri.co/. Jewelry Store.
Homepage: The team breaks down the verbiage on the banner and clears up the shipping in the header. Use the microtext within the search bar is leading visitors to the most popular products. Label the cart icon as “Cart” as it is more prototypical. Fix the navigation bug on desktop. Review stars are not congruent throughout each page.
Collection Page: Change the swatches to actual Gold or Silver to make it super clear to your visitors.
Product Page: Change out the product image with multiple products in boxes, just have the product they are looking at in the box that it comes with.
Cart Page: The CTA button colors need to remain the same throughout the whole site. Include a link on the ajax cart to go to the cart page.
