• Summary of Jam Session:

In this session we did 2 critiques. Alex Kiss – Supplements for Kids. Paul Liburd – Luxury clothing.

    Critique 1

0:01:30 – Critique number 1 is for Alex Kiss, http://www.claritykids.com/.

Homepage: Bring collections out on the main navigation. Jacobs shows how to optimize search placeholders. Run surveys to existing customers to figure out what were the top reasons they purchased from you. The banner doesn’t have a CTA button. Add wheelio to capture emails on exit intent. Remove auto sliding reviews, the user should be in control the whole time. Do not change or add details such as names for customer reviews. Be clear with shipping times, call out actual time frames as opposed to “fast shipping”. Product Filter & Search app is our recommended app for collection filters and search optimization. Talk a little about your band and mission on the homepage to add trust. Add price and review stars under products on the homepage. Add an incentivized email signup in the mobile menu to capture more emails.

Collection Page: Do not show adult products as the first product on the collection page. You can work in the adult supplements post purchase through email marketing. Add collection filters as this is the main reason for the collection page.

Product Page: Add a lifestyle image of the chewables to put the tub in scale and to make it ultra clear what the product looks like. Add a subscription option on the frontend so customers can save money for recurring purchases, also building customer loyalty and lifetime value. UVP’s should be on-brand and match the feel of the site. Avoid using walls of text for product descriptions. Address any concerns on the product page. No shipping or returns addressed on the product page. Include negative reviews and ensure you are addressing those customers to prove that you do in fact take care of your unhappy customers.

Cart Page: Test the 5% off coupon on the cart page, you may find that you do not lose any conversions by taking it away and it is saving you 5% on every order.

Checkout: Increase the size of the logo and contact information on the checkout logo. Optimize the checkout field so it has the correct placeholder text. Jeremy recommends adding the “required” placeholder text, but not making the field a requirement to fill out. Make sure the CTA’s are the same color throughout the whole site.

    Critique 2

0:50:25 – Critique number 2 is for Paul Liburd, https://acevestiti.com/.

Homepage: The team discusses not to make decisions that aren’t based on significant data regarding the search function. Add phone number and email next to contact icons on the mobile menu. Add email signup on the mobile menu as well to maximise email capture. Make the menu header sticky, so users can navigate at any point. Adding UVP’s to the banner or under the banner to give users a few reasons why they should shop with you. Change the CTA button so you are not asking for too much commitment right away. The homepage is showing too many products, instead of collections. Add your best sellers, then most popular collections. Add contact information for trust and ensure your policies are in the footer. Make sure you are very clear where your buttons lead to, if a user is unsure where a link may take them, they will be much less likely to click. Add reviews widget for trust.

Collection Page: Increase the size of the price and remove vendor name. Add review stars.

Product Page: Add sizing guide if a product requires a user to select a size. Explain why the product is such high quality. Make your email address clickable.

Cart Page: Jacob talks about a dynamic shipping threshold bar on the cart page. Remove payment icons from the cart and just keep paypal accepted. Only have one proceed to the checkout button, instead of two buttons.

Checkout: Make the background of the logo transparent and increase the size so it is readable.
